As Ghana awaits the announcement of its 30-man provisional world cup squad on Monday 12 May, assistant coach of the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu has called on players who will not be able to make the cut to respect the decision of the technical team and show 'maturity'.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is preparing to name his World Cup squad having already stated that he has a fair idea of the players he intends to take to Brazil.

There's has been a constant debate in the West African country as to who should make the squad and who shouldn't but Maxwell Konadu believes that the anguish and distress in been left out of the World cup squad would obviously bring heartbreaks but insists players must know how to conduct themselves.

Ghana's previous World cup squad announcements have been marred by confrontations and attacks from players who got jilted. It was widely reported in the local media that former Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston engaged Coach Milovan Rajevac in a verbal assault over his exclusion from the final list of players for the South Africa 2010 World Cup tournament.

“There will always be heartbreaks no matter the players we select. On Monday the list will be announced and everyone will know who is going and who is not. But all said and done we cannot take everyone to the World Cup or any other tournament for that matter.”

“All players that will be selected tomorrow are all worthy ambassadors for the nation, but again, there will be another set of heartbreaks after our camping exercise as we will have do trim the team to 23 for the tournament. Its normal and the players will have to show maturity in case they are not selected,” the assistant coach added.

Kwesi Appiah and the Ghana FA will make public the provisional squad at the press conference on Monday.

The provisional 30-man squad will be scaled down to 25 to commence the Black Stars’ residential camping in the Netherlands.
