Coach Isaac Opele Boateng has hit hard at the immediate past Youth and Sports Minster, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah for his shambolic leadership during the brouhaha that occasioned the Black Stars trip to Brazil.
According to him, the former minster had always portrayed godly charisma in the public domain but never knew he could be that unprincipled.
He noted that, until now, he has always admired Elvis Afriyie Ankrah for his style of leadership when he was appointed as the Youth and Sports Minster.
“I have been one of the people who always showered praises on him [Elvis Afriyie Ankrah] on radio ever since he was appointed as the Minster. I always backed him that he is very good.
“…The way he prays with his angelic voice attracted many admirers to him. Having a prayerful Sports Minister, I thought the ‘mafia’ at the Sports Ministry would be over. I never knew that was a ruse,” he said on Peace FM's “Kokrokoo” programme Monday morning.
He made this remark after two Travel and Tour companies [Kenpong and Africa Origin] who were assigned by the Ministry to airlift supporters to Brazil disclosed that the Minister usurped their roles.
According to the outspoken coach, he warned the Minster for some mishaps likely to happen if the appropriate outfit, the Travel and Tour agencies, are not allowed to operate freely as contracted.
“Travel and Tour is not the job of a Minister. We warned him not to set any committee to do that job. He should have allowed the Travel and Tour companies to work so he [Elvis Afriyie Ankrah] could concentrate on his responsibilities.
“…I sometimes marvel at his utterances. The Minister told us he will personally arrange for accommodation for the supporters in Brazil. How can that be possible? I am so surprised...exhibiting that kind of attitude,” he said.
Adding that, “He [Afriyie Ankrah] has failed us…he just misappropriated tax payers monies. He should be fired not re-assigned by the President,” he stated.
