Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was stretchered off in the final minutes of Al Ains 3-1 victory over Al Ain on Thursday night in the Arabian Gulf League.
Gyan appeared to injure his left knee or thigh after an awkward confrontation with Dhafra goalkeeper Abdullah Sultan at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
He had come on as a substitute in the 62nd minute to replace Jires Kembo-Ekoko after arriving from international duty on Wednesday night where he played in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 28-year-old scored a goal each in the double header against Guinea which were played in Casablanca and Tamale.
Al Ain are yet to comment on the severity of the injury but early prognosis says it might not be anything serious.
Gyan has been top scorer for the Arabian Gulf League the past three seasons.
