Uganda take on Ghana for the tenth (10) time in all competitions on Saturday 15th November in the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Their encounters date back to 1962 when Ghana walloped them in front of their countrymen by four goals to nothing and they met for the second time in the final of the continental showpiece held in Ghana. The host defeated the Cranes of Uganda 2-0 with Opoku Afriyie Bayie scoring both goals to help the Black Stars with their third AFCON on home soil.

In all Ghana lead the pack with four wins and Uganda have two wins, with three games ending in a draw.

The Cranes of Uganda last chalked victory over Ghana in 2002 in a qualifying game for the 2004 African Cup of Nations, before they held the Black Stars to a one all draw in Kumasi, which ultimately denied the four times champions a place in the 2004 finals in Tunisia.

Ghana have been struggling to beat the Cranes on Ugandan soil since a 4-1 mauling in 1962. The Black Stars have failed to win in their last four outings, having lost 2 and drawn 2 in Uganda.

The East African country put up a splendid performance to hold Ghana to a one all draw in Kumasi in their group E opener of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Ghana are now leading the table with 8 points and will secure qualification to the 2015 AFCON with a game to go if they beat Uganda.

The 2015 AFCON was thrown into jeopardy following Moroccos decision to decline hosting the tournament in 2015 due to Ebola scare, but it is now back to life after CAF confirmed that Equatorial Guinea will be the host of the tourney in January next year.
