Nigeria’s Super Seven FC defeated Ghana 3-1 on penalties at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra, to book a ticket to represent West Africa in the Standard Chart’s (SC) Road to Anfield tournament billed for May, 6.
The ‘Standard Chartered Trophy’ is an international 5-a-side football tournament organized by the Bank in partnership with Liverpool FC that offers football fans a once in a life time opportunity of playing at an English Premier League football pitch.
The Super Seven FC will represent West African region against countries from East and Southern African regions in a ten-team tournament.
The competition played in a league format saw Ghana playing four matches against Gambia and Nigeria to accumulate 7 points to tie with Nigeria.
Ghana drew 1-1 with Gambia in the first game, won 2-1 against Nigeria, marched to defeat Gambia with a lone goal but lost to Nigeria in their last game which sent the game to penalties.
After the lottery of penalties was evoked to determine which country goes to Anfield, Nigeria came out victorious.
