Firebrand Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari suffered an injury setback in Al Ittihad’s 2-1 defeat to Al Nasr in the Asian Champions League on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old was forced out of the game after picking up a knock in the 56th minute hence making way for Jamal Ba Jandooh.
Muntari who has been slapped with a hefty fine and banned for two matches by the Saudi Football Federation after his “insane” behavior on an opponent in a League match is expected to undergo a test to know the extent of the injury.
Nilmar Honarato Da Silva gave Al Nasr the lead before Gelmin Rivas pulled parity for Victor Piţurcă’s men.
Da Silva however ensured Ittihad lost points at home by scoring the match-winner and his second on the day 16 minutes from time.
Al Ittihad are currently languishing at the bottom of Group A with just 2 points after three matches.
