Real Madrid have long hoped that Zinedine Zidane can emulate Pep Guardiola, and the Frenchman already has. Not by making the successful transition from legendary player to masterful coach, however, but by suffering a wardrobe malfunction during a game.
Guardiola got so excited on the touchline during Bayern Munich's 6-1 win over Porto last year that he ripped a pretty large hole in his grey suit trousers, leaving his underwear showing.
This time it was Zidane's turn to suffer an embarrassing tear on the touchline, as the Madrid boss managed to rip a huge hole in his trousers while jumping and spinning around during an enthusiastic sideshow to Cristiano Ronaldo's brilliant hat-trick against Wolfsburg.
Zidane had looked effortlessly sharp in a classic dark suit but his sartorial chic took a nosedive after the incident, which left him with an enormous rip down the back of his thigh, exposing most of the top of his leg.
The World Cup-winner had leapt into the air and twisted in frustration after an effort at goal by striker Karim Benzema flew wide of the post.
His consolation was Real's emphatic victory, courtesy of Ronaldo's fifth Champions League treble, which completed a comeback from 2-0 down against the German outfit.
The victory ensured that Madrid's hopes of the undecima - their 11th European Cup triumph - are still very much alive.
It also completed an eventful first 100 days in the job for the former world player of the year. Zidane has presided over some patchy La Liga form, but has also managed to notch up a Clasico victory in the Nou Camp over arch rivals Barcelona and continues to enjoy impressive progress in Europe's elite club competition.
He could soon face a showdown against Guardiola, with the Spaniard's Bayern Munich side gunning for a place in the Champions League semi-finals against Benfica on Wednesday night.
Bayern take a slender 1-0 advantage into the second leg at Lisbon's Estadio da Luz, with Guardiola desperate to claim the one big prize that has so far eluded him during his spell in Bavaria before he heads for pastures new at Manchester City in the summer.
Should Zidane and Guardiola end up going head to head in the Champions League final at the San Siro in May, a clash between these two volatile greats of the game would see tailors in Milan readying their tape measures in anticipation of some new business. Luckily there's a few of them round there.
Unfortunately for Zidane, TV cameras caught the moment his trousers split as he spun around + Guardiola's underwear was on show after the Bayern boss managed to rip a hole in his trousers
