Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) boss Cudjoe Fianoo has called on the Sports Minister and the Ghana Football Association to, as a matter of urgency, resolve their differences and ensure a good Nations Cup outing and a fourth consecutive appearance at the World Cup.

The two bodies have been involved in a public spat over issues of funding and management of the national team in the last few months.

With the Black Stars set to play the Cranes of Uganda in a World Cup qualifier on Friday October 7, Mr Fianoo has called for truce between the two bodies.

“As connoisseurs of the game, we should be worried about this situation because the Black Stars transcend all barriers, be it political or otherwise. What I keep on saying is that the game players should have the national interest at heart so that we have that serene atmosphere. It’s a cat-and-mouse kind of situation or a chicken-and-egg kind of situation. The Minister is demanding respect; the FA on the other hand is demanding trust. I think that in the interest of Ghana football the two sides need to bury the hatchet and to ensure that we have a peaceful atmosphere,” he told Class Sports’ Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang, adding: “Ghanaians have tasted the World Cup on three occasions and will not forgive us if we do not make it a fourth successive one. It is now a part of their lives. The World Cup and the AFCON are now a must. We have even set a target that we should win the 2017 Cup of Nations and I don’t think anyone will be happy to be blamed for the team’s failure to either qualify for the World Cup or win the Cup of Nations.”
