The Black Stars were held to a goalless draw at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Friday by the Cranes of Uganda in the first match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana went into the game needing a win to start the campaign on a good note but they could not get into a good rhythm as the Ugandans held the ball and looked more comfortable. It took Ghana about half-an-hour to get into the game and create some opportunities.
The best one in the first half fell to Christian Atsu who went on a run but his shot went off target. In the second half, Ghana played more on the offensive but chances from Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew, Mubarak Wakaso and Daniel Amartey could not hit the net as Uganda goalie Dennis Onyango was superb in post for the visitors.
The Ugandans relied on the counter attack as their way of going forward in the second half but they also failed to score. Both teams will await the result of the tie between Congo Brazzaville and Egypt on Sunday. Ghana starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Braimah; Afful, Boye, Mensah, Rahman; Wakaso, Acquah; Atsu, Jordan Ayew, Acheampong; Gyan. Uganda XI vs Ghana: Onyango, Wadada, Ochaya, Jjuko, Isinde, Aucho, Iguma, Mawejje, Oloya, Luwagga, Miya

When did Ghana started playing her qualifying at Temale? Is it because the president from north? Dey should return back to Osei krom(Kumasi) word..........
Its better they do not qualify. Better we watch the foreign teams just like how we do with the EPL and GPL.
This has nothing to do with the sports minister. The truth the current crop of players are not fit.
This team cannot win any match let us forever forget Russia with this third division team we are calling black stars.
I think now the sport minister is happy of this result...he kept on blocking the stars from playing friendly matches to keep them in good shape. He behaves Ghana is his, the fact that you were once a footballer doesn't guarantee you to be good manager . posterity will judge as all....
How can we have such a wee-smoking minister and expect to win a game. Minister without respect, no diplomacy and no sense of compassion. The Black Stars cannot qualify to Russia with this minister. He is a disgrace to himself and I can assure you that he will not end his term in good note.
Game over for Ghana. It's a wrap see ya in 2022, thanks to ***barred word*** sports minister.
KUDOS STARS. THAT WAS A VERY GOOD FIRST GAME. WINNING IS GOOD. BUT MIND YOU - OPPONENTS PREPARE VERY WELL TO FACE YOU!! CHEER UP AND KEEP THE FLAME ALIGHT.
