Black Stars returnee Jerry Akaminko has ward off claims indicating his pre-World Cup injury was perpetuated by countryman Rashid Sumaila.
One Malam Isaka had claimed he was contacted by Rashid Sumaila to get his teammate (Jerry Akaminko) injured prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Akaminko suffered an injury whilst in action for the Black Stars in a friendly match against the Netherlands prior to the World Cup in Brazil.
The situation forced Akaminko out of the final list for the competition.
Months after the tournament in Brazil, one Malam Isaka made an astonishing revelation indicating he was behind the injury of the former Ghana U17 skipper after being contacted by Rashid Sumaila.
Jerry Akaminko during an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM rubbished the assertion on his playmate.
‘’I am happy to come back to the team.’’
‘’It has not been easy but God knows and won’t apportion blame that someone was behind my injury’’
‘’I don’t believe Rashid was, no it is never true’’ He added.
The defender finally returned to the Black Stars team ahead of Sunday’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.
