The Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, has congratulated and expressed appreciation to the Black Princesses for qualifying for the Women’s World Cup in France.

The Female U-20 National team beat Cameroon by 4:1 on aggregate to book a ticket for the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women’s World Cup slated for France from 14th June to 15th July, 2018.

In a release copied to GNA Sports and signed by the Chairman Mr. Alex Agyekum stated that “Ghana must turn all stones to turn all her National Women's football teams into championship sides in all competitions”.

According to the release, in the run up to the Black Princesses' feat the First Lady, Rebecca Akuffo-Addo, invigorated the Princesses’ spirit, pledging the nation's total support, to which the team responded in grand style, which urged the Select Committee to express its appreciation to the "First Lady for her support and special interest in Women's sports.

The release also thanked "all stakeholders in Cape Coast and individuals, who assisted in mobilizing supporters for the match", noting the outcome is a feather in the cap of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association.

Furthermore the committee urged the relevant sports authorities to provide the Black Princesses with "the requisite logistics and pre-tournament training exposure needed to get them battle-ready" and also assured the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Sports Ministry of its maximum support and cooperation "so that the Women national team would achieve their objective of winning the ultimate cup".
