“Playing Cote d’Ivoire Is Like A Final Match”- Mercy Tagoe Tells Players

The interim head coach of the Black Queens, Mercy Tagoe has told her charges to remain focused, as they play Cote d’Ivoire in the maiden 2018 Women West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B championship in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ghana would play her first game against the host nation today, Wednesday, February 14, at the Robert Champroux Stadium and according to the coach “it won’t be easy playing Cote d’Ivoire and I have told my players to bear in mind that playing the host is like playing a final match,” she said.

On her part, though it is their first time of playing in the Championship, her side would replicate their best performance at the international front adding that, they would go all out to earn a respectable result.

“We have persevered to reach this stage and I believe with the positive attitude of the players, we can achieve our target to make Ghanaians happy,” she added.

Ms Tagoe remains confident, her side would chalk victory against Cote d’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, the coach has named her first 11 players against the host nation.

First 11 : Patricia Mantey, Ellen Coleman, Gladys Amfobea, Janet Egyir, Faustina Ampah, Juliet Acheampong, Mavis Owusu, Grace Asantewaa, Jane Ayieyam, Priscilla Okyere and Portia Boakye as the captain.
