Houssein Saloum, head coach of the Malian national female football team, has said, his team played above themselves to beat Ghana by 2-1 in second Group A game in the ongoing African Women Cup (AWCON) 2018 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to coach Saloum, playing the host nation had never been easy, but we went bent on winning to remain in the competition.

“I must congratulate my team for the great job done, playing Ghana wasn’t easy but they were equal to the task.

“They played to instructions and played above themselves to keep us in the competition, we told ourselves before this game that we cannot afford to lose again after losing to Cameroon in our first game”.
