President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that the ultimate direction of Ghana Football is to see the Black Stars win the African Cup of Nations again.
The Black Stars' trophy-less jinx spanning over 37 years had become very worrying for various stakeholders in the football fraternity.
But in response to a question about the direction of the Ghana Football at media encounter held on Friday, the President backed the new Ghana Football Association (GFA) to spearhead the reformation process, stressing how FIFA frowns on political interference in football activities.
"The direction we all want is for at lease the Black Stars to win the AFCON trophy again and beyond that is for us to compete at the global level,'' he added.
When asked whether he wanted the gaffer of the Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah to be retained after his contract expires this December.
He said, "This is a very difficult question for me to answer. When I say Yes, it is like I'm putting pressure on the football association to renew his contract and If I say no, then it means he can't do it. So let me keep away from answering the question.''
