Former Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Yaw Boateng Gyan has called for the sacking of Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor indicating he is not ready for the job.
The former Black Stars captain has come under pressure following Ghana’s defeat to South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars exhibited an uninspiring performance against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in their first game which they won by a lone goal and lost to South Africa by the same margin at the FNB Stadium on Monday.
According to Yaw Boateng Gyan, CK Akonnor should admit the Black Stars job is bigger than him and resign immediately.
Speaking to the media after Ghana’s defeat to South Africa and the calls for CK Akonnor to be sacked, the former National NDC Organizer said, “In my opinion CK Akonnor should do the honorable thing and resign”.
“We have a lot of talents in the country but the way we appoint coaches and select players is the problem. We equally have good coaches in the country who can replace CK Akonnor.
“CK Akonnor should realize that the job is bigger than him and resign”, he added.
The Ghana Football Association is set to meet later today to review the performance of the Black Stars in their last two games and also decide on whether to sack CK Akonnor or throw their weight behind in for the remainder of his contract.
