Hearts of Oak legend Dan Quaye has launched into a sensational tirade after Gabon's dramatic late draw against Ghana - launching a stinging potshot at Andre Ayew, claiming the national team "is not for his father" in a unbelievable attack on the Black Stars captain.

Andre, who scored a sublime opener against Gabon in the second group C game, has come under some form of criticism over claims of selfishness.

The Al Sadd captain failed to release an earlier ball to winger Joseph Paintsil which could have resulted in the second goal but opted to go solo - leading to an infringement.

Despite Andre's Man of the Match performance, critics have not spared him - with claims he is focused on personal glory at the expense of the national dream.

And former Hearts of Oak defender Dan Quaye, who is an avid critic of the former Swansea City star, has launched a sensational attack targeted at the player.

“What was Andre Ayew thinking when he could have passed the ball to Joseph Paintsil to score the second goal?” he quizzed during an interview with Accra based Happy FM.

“It was a clear goal-scoring opportunity for the Black Stars but Andre Ayew decided to keep the ball to himself. We must let Andre understand that the Black Stars is not for his father.

“This is a national team and there should be that oneness and unity among the players on the pitch but that is not what Andre Ayew is doing.

“He is always seeking the glory for himself and not the team. He always wants to grab the headlines which is bad for the team.

“He is selfish and his attitude is not helping the team. If I am playing with Andre Ayew, I would never enjoy playing with him because he is selfish."

The four-time African champions find themselves in a tricky situation following the side's 1-1 late drama against Gabon.

The team has arrived in Garoua for the final group game which has several permutations going into the crunch tie.

Ghana can finish either as second-placed or one of the third-best placed teams depending on several results.

The Ghanaian will need to win by a wider margin against Comoros and hope Morocco do them a huge favour by beating Gabon.

The mathematics and permutations have moved into full swing ahead of the must-win game against the tiny nation.
