Masa, what is the meaning of popular and famous? What are you talking about masa, may be you are using banana-shaped dictionary and so therefore you are confused. Patapaa's song regardless of how opinion leaders and whoever frowned to it was by far the most famous / popular song of the year. In America,Europe it was a banger in the clubs etc. Now let me give you definition of popular and famous so then you will know your opinion you stated was / is 100% ''Nonfa''. Popular means: liked or admired by many people or by a particular person or group. And Famous means:known about by many people. So what are talking about that ''one corner should been awarded famous song? what is the difference between famous and popular, boss Don Biko?
It is the word used to describe the award that is creating the confusion here. The word 'popular' as used to describe the award means well-liked by many people. The appropriate word would have been famous:well-known by many people. Patapaa's One Corner song was unquestionably famous but whether it was popular is a topic I will reserve for discussion some other day.The song received mixed reactions from music lovers, religious and opinion leaders as well as civil society groups. Some labelled it as demonic and some people allegedly fell to their death whilst performing the gravity-defying dance that accompanies the song.Such news further fueled the spread of the song and made it more famous. For the award winner, I must confess that was the first time I heard about his song and his identity as a musician. I went to ***barred word*** to check out the song but truth be told I did not listen to the song till the end. Perhaps not because it was a bad song but as I said earlier I am not a keen follower of Ghana music. In all this though I will like to state(and this is my opinion and I am entitled to it) the most popular song should go to Odo by Kidi(unless his song was not done in the year under review). Patapaa should have won the most famous song for the year under review but there was no such category. As to whether music lovers deemed the awards fair or not one thing is clear: they follow the VGMA annual event and it is up to Charter House to jealously protect a strong brand! They should not allow parochial interests and short term gains to erode the confidence and enthusiasm people have in the annual awards. The reaction of people is clear evidence.I dey go bed sef!
yes patapaa is the winner. his song one corner was all over the world and not only in GH. PATAPAA IS THE WINNER
The Truth is One and it reigns worldwide. Africa is always impoverished because corrupt individuals and institution such as Charter House fills everywhere. Charter House is such a disgraceful institution and I wonder why credible bodies as Vodafon, etc. would have anything to do with them. You have robbed Patapaa of his award because of your corrupt nature and the so-called Head of Communication at Charter House, George Quaye defending this? We are talking about ‘the Most popular Song’ of the year in the nation Ghana for 2017 and you telling us a song beats ‘One Corner’? God punish you all at Charter House. This is no surprise because there’s a Nigerian there. Why did the host asked before the award was presented that “did you vote”? You knew what you have done behind the scenes. To the people of Ghana; Patapaa is the winner of this category.
