The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) is to intensify monitoring of the services of utility service companies from January 2010 to ensure quality service to consumers of electricity and water. According to the PURC, it will not hesitate from next year to impose penalties or sanctions on utility service companies which will fail to meet required standards.
