Rawlings To Visit FONKAR's Owusu Bempah Today

Snippets of information gathered by Peacefmonline.com indicate that former President Jerry Rawlings will today pay a visit to incarcerated Director of Operations of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), Ernest Owusu Bempah, barring any unforeseen circumstances. An executive member of the group, Joseph Bediako, who spoke in an interview on Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, disclosed that Founder of the NDC did indicate yesterday, after the arrest of the outspoken FONKAR executive that he will visit him to check on the status of issues. He also revealed that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is disappointed at the turn of events but has maintained her cool on the unfolding drama. Rejecting claims that the former First Lady has abandoned the embattled FONKAR Director of Operations, Joseph Bediako stressed that Mrs Rawlings is still supportive of the activities of FONKAR but being the experienced politician that she is, she takes her time to analyze situations before acting. Owusu Bempah was on Wednesday, March 14, invited by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and detained over his allegations that First Lady Naadu Mills received five million dollars of the 51 million Ghana cedis judgment debt paid to the embattled NDC financier, Alfred Woyome. Expressing surprise at the attempt to gag the citizenry especially members of FONKAR, Bediako said FONKAR is not perturbed by the governments acts of intimidation, adding that this will not deter the group from touching on the ills being perpetrated by appointees of government. a lot of people have said and continue to make allegations about members of the President Mills administration, myself included, so it is a surprise that theyve targeted and arrested only Owusu Bempahbut FONKAR still remains strong, he said.
