NDC Communicators Must Show Discipline, Maturity - Kale

The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Mr Ceasar Kale, has advised members of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress to always exhibit a high sense of discipline and maturity when engaged in political discourse. He said members of team should not use indecent language when talking about religious, sectoral, geographical and ethnic sentiments. You must also be humble and not threaten or be antagonistic towards your opponents, he added. Mr Kale was speaking at the inauguration of a 25 member communication team of the party in Wa. According to him, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was desperate, on wild goose chase and finding it difficult to have messages for Ghanaians, hence peddling untruth about the NDC government led by President J. E. A. Mills. He, therefore, urged the NDC communicators not to fall prey to the lies of the NPP but speak the truth as it was. The NPP are desperate to come back to power and are engaging in lies and no wonder they are being exposed as pathological liars; they are being exposed because the people of the Upper West have seen through this as a result of the numerous developments taken place, he stated. Mr Kale said so far as the region was concerned, it has had it fair share of the national cake through the extension of electricity to about 400 communities, provision of educational and health facilities. He said three new senior high schools are being established in the Sissala West, Wa East and Wa West districts in addition to five polyclinics and a number of CHIPS compounds. The deputy regional minister said the Navrongo Tumu and Wa Walewale roads were being worked on, while 500 were also being constructed across the region. That is why we believe the NDC deserved a second term else any other party would abandon projects initiated by the government; ex Presidents Rawlings and Kufuor all serve for eight years in office so why not Mills? he said. Touching on the role of the communicators, Mr Kale said the inauguration, which was the first of its kind in the region, was to ensure that the party co-ordinated its issues very well and that you are the key researchers from archeology to zoology who have to compile data available from all levels including the achievements and lapses so that we can compare it with the eight years of the NPP government. The Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Eric Dakurah, said the party had identified people who could articulate the achievements of the government and urged the communicators to work hard to disabuse the minds of people that the NDC has failed the region. He said the party was poised to win all the 11 constituencies in the region and gave the assurance that resources and logistics would be provided to the team to work effectively and efficiently. Mrs Cecilia Hamza Adams, the Regional Womens Organiser of the party, bemoaned the lack of women on the communication team and therefore, called for their inclusion since there were equally good ones, who when given the opportunity, could perform very well. The Director of the Regional Communication team, Mr Yahaya Yakubu, thanked the regional executive of the party for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work assiduously for the NDC to retain power.
