Ghanaian Consumers Need Protection - Owusu Agyemang

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, has called for protection for the Ghanaian consumer. He made the statement a day after the commemoration of World Consumer Day to underscore the concerns of Ghanaians on the exploitation by enterprises and other institutions. According to him, the exploitation is as a result of lack of mechanisms to ensure that value for money is manifested. Seconding Mr. Owusu Agyemangs statement, the MP for North Dayi, Akua Sena Dansua questioned the wholesomeness of food products displayed on the sun which are sold to unsuspecting consumers. Minority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, also attributed the exploitation of consumers to the high lending rate which he said, undermines the credibility of the inflation figures. Other members of the house also made positive contributions to the statement and urged government to intervene in the matter to rectify the situation. The media and the civil society were also encouraged to rise up to the occasion to make their voices heard and also keep the interest of the average Ghanaian in their hearts.
