ENGLAND Chelsea capped an impressive week with a 5-2 drubbing of Leicester City at the Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Michael Essien came off the bench after 62 minutes to help the Blues course as Fernando Torres ended his goal drought by bagging a brace. Essien was involved in the sequence of play that saw Raul Meireles score the fifth goal. Right-back John Pantsil was left out of the Leicester City squad once more but Jeffrey Schulpp played 28 minutes for Leicester. In the Npower Championship, Lloyd Sam watched Leeds United�s 1-1 draw game with West Ham United from the stands. Midfielder Prince Buaben Abankwah was left out of the Watford team which were held to a one-all drawn game by Coventry City. Albert Adomah returned from injury to play 77 minutes in Bristol City�s 0-0 draw at bottom-placed Portsmouth. In the League One, QPR loanee Patrick Agyemang failed to find the net for Stevenage which drew 0-0 at Hartlepool United. Former Liverpool youngster David Amoo was introduced in the 59th minute for Bury which disgracefully lost 4-1 on home grounds to Wycombe Wanderers. ITALY Youngster Amidu Salifu and Maxwell Boadu Acosty watched Fiorentina�s 5-0 humiliation to Juventus from the bench. Sulley Muntari continued his impressive showing by playing full time in their 2-0 win over Parma. Midfielder Afriyie Acquah played the last ten minutes for ten-man Palermo which drew 1-1 at Lecce. In the Serie B, striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom played the full 90 minutes for Sassuolo who defeated AlbinoLeffe 3-2 at their own backyard. His compatriot Isaac Cofie was introduced after 68 minutes. In the reserves league, Joseph Alfred Duncan scored the second for Inter Milan in their 3-1 win at AlbinoLeffe on Saturday. The intelligent midfielder scored on the 27th minute. Former Ghana U20 defender Bright Addae played the full 90 minutes for Parma in their 2-0 win over Sassuolo. Midfielder Godfred Adolf warmed the Parma bench. Talented striker Justice Opoku scored the winner for Inter Milan in a seven-goal thriller with Atalanta in the Allievi Regionali league. Daniel Kofi Agyei skippered Fiorentina to draw 1-1 at Siena. 17-year-old defender Nii Nortey Ashong also featured for Fiorentina. FRANCE Bernard Yao Kumordzi helped Dijon to hand Olympique Marseille their fifth consecutive defeat in the Ligue 1 with a 2-1 win at the Stade Velodrome. The former Panionios midfielder was assigned a central holding midfield role. Andre Ayew was out with a shoulder injury but Jordan Ayew was a second half substitute. Croaked Rabiu Mohammed did not travel with Evian Thonon Gaillard�s team as they defeated Auxerre 2-0 in an away fixture. Defender Jonathan Mensah failed to make the first team grade. Caen managed to play out a 2-2 draw with big-spending PSG. Enterprising defender Jerry Vandam received a booking in the 29th minute and played full throttle for Caen. There was no place in the Olympique Lyon team for Ghana captain John Mensah as they pipped Saint-Etienne 1-0. John Boye was at the heart of defence for Stade Rennes who slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Toulouse on home ground. Rennes had defender Romain Danze to blame for scoring an own goal. In the Ligue 2, Haminu Dramani played 1 minute for Arles Avignon which made two wins out of two at the expense of Laval by beating them 1-0. Defender Dennis Appiah lost his place in the AS Monaco team as they drew 0-0 at Tours. In the reserves league, former Ghana U20 striker Kwame Nsor came off the bench to provide an assist for Metz who drew 2-2 at Amniville. Defender Kamal Issah Sissoko lasted the entire duration of the game for Stade Rennes in their 2-2 draw at Guingamp. GERMANY TSG Hoffenheim recorded their second straight defeat after losing 2-1 to Stuttgart. Defender Isaac Vorsah was dropped to the bench. In the Bundesliga II, Ghana midfielder Charles Takyi was left out of the St. Pauli side that lost 2-1 at Erzgebirge Aue. In the Liga 3, Phil Ofosu-Aryeh played the full 90 minutes for Rot-Wei� Erfurt which beat SV Sandhausen 4-2. Arminia Bielefeld were held to a 2-2 drawn game by Preu�en M�nster. Defender Marcel Appiah played at the heart of defence for Bielefeld while former AshGold striker Eric Agyemang came off the bench to play nine minutes. Midfielder Jeff Gyasi played was handed a place on the left wing as his Rot-Wei� Oberhausen squeezed past Werder Bremen II 1-0. HOLLAND Anthony Annan helped Vitesse Arnhem to better their chances of securing European football by beating ten-man Heracles Almelo 2-0. Kwame Quansah featured for Heracles. Young striker Elvis Manu continued to warm the bench for Feyenoord Rotterdam which defeated an ambitious FC Twente side 2-0. Nana Akwasi Asare inspired FC Utrecht to a 3-1 victory over Groningen. NAC Breda frustrated leaders AZ Alkmaar by holding them to a 0-0 draw at their own backyard. Would-be Ghanaian Jeffery Sarpong watched the entire action from the Breda bench. In the second-tier league, Veendam failed to beat ten-man Almere City after drawing 1-1. Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Jonathan Opoku played the entire match for Veendam but compatriot Mitch Apau was left out of the Veendam squad. Former Ghana U17 star striker Kelvin Bossman watched from the bench as his Helmond Sport side cruised to a 3-0 victory Sparta Rotterdam. BELGIUM Standard Liege humbled new boys OH Leuven 3-0 to move up to fourth place with defender Daniel Opare on the bench. Frederic Boi was replaced after 89 minutes when his Anderlecht drew 2-2 with Sint-Truiden. Midfielder Abdul Iddi Yakeen was out of the KV Mechelen squad which lost 2-0 at Zulte-Waregem. William Owusu Acheampong watched Westerlo�s 3-2 win over Genk from the stands. SWITZERLAND FC Servette fought back to draw 1-1 with FC Zurich. Ishmael Yartey set up Servette�s goal on 73 minutes. UNITED STATES Striker Dominic Oduro grabbed the equaliser for Chicago Fire on 71 minutes as they drew 1-1 with Montreal Impact. Patrick Nyarko also played full time Chicago Fire. UAE Striker Asamoah Gyan converted from the spot to help Al-Ain nick a 1-0 win over Al Ahli. UKRAINE Defender Daniel Addo was not involved in action for FC Zorya who beat Kryvbas 2-0. AC Milan striker Dominic Adiyiah watched from the bench as his Arsenal Kiev held Tavriya to a 1-1 draw. Winger Abeiku Quansah continued to stay out of the Arsenal Kiev first team squad. Derek Boateng did not make the trip with FC Dnipro to Dynamo Kiev due to suspension but defender Samuel Inkoom played 78 minutes as they lost 2-0. PORTUGAL FC Porto loanee Christian Atsu Twasam was involved in full time action for Rio Ave which lost 1-0 to Uniao de Leiria. SERBIA Striker Nathaniel Asamoah�s debut for Red Star Belgrade was delayed once again after failing to make the first team sheet in their 1-4 win at Borca BSK. Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah was left out of the Vojvodina team who won 2-0 over Sloboda Sevojno. Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Francis Bossman played full throttle for Sloboda Sevojno.
