Campaign Cars Arrive Soon

The Campaign Manager for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko yesterday assured members of the Greater Accra Regional Campaign team which he inaugurated that logistics to enable them to do their work would be provided. He announced that pickup vehicles for the campaign would soon be taken delivery of warning that when they arrive he would ensure they are put to good use. I will personally go and take them away where the vehicles are not used properly, he told his audience at the Presbyterian Church, Osu where he announced NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addos nominees for membership of the constituencies campaign teams. Fifteen thousand bicycles he said have arrived already and 3,000 motorbikes would soon be in to enhance the work of those engaged in the campaign exercise of the party. A party supporter who asked for anonymity has donated a million flags for the campaign effort, he added. The campaign manager who spoke extensively on various issues asked party members to ignore their personal differences and work towards the good of the party. Ghanaians he said can entrust the upkeep of the country into the hands of the NPP since as he put it there is unity within the political grouping. The current situation is in contrast to what opponents of the party said of it earlier, he pointed out as he tasked constituency executives to work hard. On the biometric registration he asked that all party supporters should go and have their names included in the register. According to him, it is a system which he observed in Jamaica and can therefore vouch for its efficiency in stemming the incidence of double registration. What the system cannot do he said is identify minors and foreigners, the rest he added is left to party supporters. Registration is not enough he said but going out to vote on election day is very important he said recalling how the 2008 polls saw many party people not going out to vote. He for instance noted that during the 2008 elections some 68% of party people did not vote in the Ashanti region alone and pointed at a similar occurrence in the other regions. Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP, Ishmael Ashietey, asked appointees of the flag bearer to bring value on board. The flag bearers appointment of five persons to the existing team at the regional and constituency levels is in consonance with the tenets of the partys constitution, he said.
