Deputy Information Minister James Agyenim Boateng has advised the wife of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to first reprimand her husband Nana Akufo-Addo against using insulting language before extending that caution and admonishing to others. Mr. Rebecca Akufo-Addo waded into the ongoing debate about politics of insults when she addressed students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Monday. She said �the more society gives free oxygen to dirty politics that seeks to destroy reputations, the less good people, especially women, will find politics a career option worth pursuing.� According to her, �much of the politics in Ghana disheartening and a major disincentive for the many brilliant young women who may have considered politics as a career option�. But Mr James Agyenim Boateng told XYZ News Mrs. Akufo-Addo should start by reining in her husband and his assigns first as an example to others. "I think that Mrs. Akufo-Addo ought to be first and foremost advising her husband and his followers to show candour to show that they can be commited to politics free of insults," he said. He says a comparative analysis of the recent rallies held by both parties at Mantse Agbona would reveal that the NPP used the platform to cast abusive language at their opponents while that of the NDC was issues driven. He said NPP members such as Sammy Awuku and Ursula Owusu are examples of officials who engage in politics of vilification and advised that they should be dealt with accordingly.
