GBC must sustain its reputable image - Director General

The Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, Berifi Appenteng, has asked staff of Obonu FM to re-strategise programmes on the Station to meet the current state of radio broadcasting and the needs of the listeners. He said radio broadcasting has become dynamic therefore, there is the need for staff to re-shape programmes to stay in competition as well as generate more income. Mr. Appenteng said this when he paid a working visit to Obonu FM in Tema, to acquaint himself with the operations of the station. The visit was also to share ideas and assist management to find solution to certain operational challenges. He said although GBC is a Public Service Broadcaster, the Corporation must be able to generate enough revenue to cater for its operational cost without solely depending on the government. Mr. Appenteng also urged staff of Obonu to live above reproach and endeavour to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He said GBC has over the years earned a reputable image which should be sustained for generations to come. The Regional Director of Obonu FM, George Adu Boampong, thanked the Director General for the visit and assured him of the workers commitment at making the Station one of the best in Greater Accra Region.
