Gov't Must Reconsider Boycott Of Multimedia Group - Awuni

A former presidential spokesperson during the erstwhile NPP administration, Mr. Andrew Awuni, has counseled the ruling NDC government to reconsider its decision to boycott all forms of interaction on all Multimedia Group Limited platforms. This comes after a Deputy Minister of information, James Agyenim Boateng, revealed to Citi News that the government will henceforth shun all programmes of the Multimedia Group, citing unfair treatment against them. However, Mr. Awuni told Citi News the move by the government is in direct conflict with what is stipulated in the countrys Constitution. It is against the letter and spirit of our Constitution as well as other legislations including the Right to Information Bill that Mr. Agyenim Boateng and his ministry is seriously canvassing; a bill this government has shown commitment to passing, he said. Mr. Awuni added: Are they also suggesting per this directive that if a multimedia journalist goes to Parliament or courtroom today or any State institution to seek information, he should be sent out? What does that say then of the independence of our State institutions? How can the executive give that kind of directive, is difficult for me to understand, he opined
