The founding director of the Center for Media Analysis, Dr. Messan Mawugbe, has described government�s decision to boycott Multimedia Group of Companies as an infringement on the right to information of Ghanaians. The government announced a total boycott of all Multimedia Group platforms on Tuesday over allegations of unfair coverage. However, Dr. Mawugbe noted that government could have used several other approaches in seeking redress rather than a boycott. �In communication purposes, it calls for a dual exchange, and the media platforms are extensions of the multiple voices of the human society,� Dr. Mawugbe said. �So when a segment is prevented through whatever processes to have access to information, it becomes an infringement, in a sense that the other segments such as the people will not have an access to information.� He said the ruling NDC by their decision will be breaching aspects of the Constitution as well as undermining the authority given to the National Media Commission (NMC). Presently, the government has also directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to treat journalists from the company as gate-crashers.
