Why Suspend Me Without Authenticating The Recording? Kofi Adams Asks

Kofi Adams, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is questioning the decision by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to temporarily oust him without authenticating the veracity of a tape recording of a conversation between him and a staunch activist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The NDC deputy General Secretary was suspended on Thursday at a crunch meeting held by the NDCs NEC. He has also been referred to the disciplinary committee of the party for further action. Mr. Adams is reported to have schemed with the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a dye-in-the-wool NPP activist, to scuttle the second term bid of NDC flagbearer President John Evans Atta Mills. This follows the recording of a private conversation he is alleged to have had with Gabby, the contents of which has since been made public. But speaking in an interview on Citi FM, Kofi Adams who also doubles as the spokesperson of the Rawlingses, said the information is news to him and wonders how any group of persons can meet and decide to suspend him when they have not taken the trouble to authenticate the recording. According to him, though he was present at the NEC meeting on Thursday afternoon, he had to quickly leave at the tail-end to attend to other equally pressing matters. He further expatiated that at the NEC meeting, he was only afforded the opportunity to explain circumstances surrounding his interaction with Gabby but left afterwards and so was not privy to the final decision made by the NEC regarding the alleged recorded conversation. I was at the meeting earlierI will be surprised that anybody will conclude that something which has not been proven will be a reference point to decide to suspend anybody. Even Gabby has confirmed that it is not my voice and I have challenged the authenticity of that tapeI dont see why any group of persons will meet and decide to suspend me when you have not even taken the trouble to verify. If you have done so then you can decide to take such an actionbut you have not done that. You suspend somebody when you are sure but you dont suspend somebody on a hearsay matter especially when the person has denied itI will be surprised if such a decision have been taken Kofi Adams.
