As part of efforts to ensure a resounding victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December polls, the Kwadaso constituency branch of the party has declared its intention to register at least 100,000 voters in the upcoming biometric registration exercise.
The exercise will begin on Saturday, March 24 nationwide.
Dr Akoto Owusu Afriyie, the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, made the disclosure over the weekend during the inauguration of the constituency�s youth wing.
He said it was imperative for the party to increase its votes in the impending polls to ensure that Nana Akufo Addo becomes the country�s next President.
Hon Akoto therefore entreated supporters of the party to take the impending exercise seriously so that their target of at least 100,000 voters would be realized.
He encouraged the supporters to visit people in their homes and workplaces to educate them on the forthcoming exercise so that they would come out in their numbers to register.
�We are not giving ourselves this herculean task for nothing, it is only when we get the people to vote that we can ensure that Nana Addo becomes our next President to deliver us from the bad governance being witnessed currently,� the NPP emphasized.
Hon Akoto told the supporters not to only spread the good news about the exercise but also make sure that they assist the aged and sick to register.
Urging them to ensure that all persons, who have turned 18 years, register, the NPP legislator asked the supporters to be fearless during the exercise.
He encouraged them not to submit to any form of intimidation from any quarter, observing that the necessary measures had been put in place to ensure that the exercise goes on smoothly.
Hon Akoto disclosed that they had been credibly informed that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) had brought some foreigners to register in the constituency.
He advised the NDC to rescind its decision since they would not allow any foreigner to go through the registration process, stating that only Ghanaians and people from the constituency would be allowed to register.
