District Chief Executive for Atiwa, Emmanuel Atta Twum has extended appreciation to the Japanese government for extending assistance to the district under the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) scheme to put up a CHPS compound in the district to improve health delivery. He said the $112,000 grant project is well appreciated by people in the district since it promises to bring a lot of relief to people in search of quality health services at accessible place Mr. Twum indicated that the project which is nearing completion would be fully furnished and equipped with modern medical equipment and furniture to enhance delivery at the facility. He was particularly impressed that welfare of health personnel was given priority with the construction of nurses quarters saying the absence of accommodation for personnel at health institutions has always been a disincentive towards retaining them at villages and other less endowed areas that lack some social amenities. The facility would also have access road as well as mechanized boreholes to provide potable water to the facility, the nurses quarters and surrounding residents. The DCE further stated that the assembly is hopping to add some additional CHPS compounds this year, adding that last year the assembly successfully carried out extension on the out patience department (OPD) of the Enyiresi Government Hospital as well as completed staff quarters for Abomosu Health Centre.
