Police Swoop On Suspects In Walewale Massacre

The police have arrested a number of suspects believed to have been involved in the burning of houses in Arigu in the Walewale Constituency of the Upper East region of Ghana. Some masked men on Monday, attacked residents and burnt down about eight houses in the area. One person is believed to have been killed with four sustaining various degrees of injuries. The police have so far linked the unrest with the NDC parliamentary candidate for Walewale, King James Azortibah. Meanwhile, some of the victims of the shooting incident are responding to treatment at the Bolgatanga Regional Police Hospital. �Some of them were not seriously injured, but others had gunshot wounds,� Manasseh Amewolor, the Upper East Regional Welfare Officer, told Citi News. �As at now they are on admission and are being treated,� he said.
