STATEMENT: Abudus Accuse NDC Of Attempts To Annihilate Them

The BOLIN-LANA, Regent of the Abudu family in Dagbon, Abdullai Mahamadu, has accused the Mills administration of calculated attempts to annihilate and make the Abudus become extinct "since their actions and inactions show they have no respect for the rule of law". The Bolin-Lana and the Abudu Royal Family registered their displeasure about recent happenings in the Dagbon state especially the conduct of the security agencies in a press statement copied to peacefmonline.com. Secretary and Spokesperson to the Bolin-Lana, Abdulai Abubakari Sadiq, who signed the statement on behalf of the Abudu Family Regent in Dagbon, claimed the NDC government is merely "pretending to be supporting Asantehene and the eminent chiefs efforts to bring peace to Dagbon" and slammed President Mills for engaging in "partisan gimmick" "...he (President Mills) should demonstrate his democratic credentials and moral uprightness by upholding the oath he swore to God and country, to be fair to all manner of persons irrespective of their tribal, religious, Political affiliation...To the security forces, we entreat them to act as Ghanas Security forces, and not NDCs security forces. For instance where were they looking when the Andanis illegally and un-customarily installed forty-three (43) chiefs? Now the Abudus have installed only three(3) in order to bring peace, in that they case they think the world should come to an end, It will not," he said. Read below the full statement issued by the BOLIN-LANA, Regent of the Abudu family in Dagbon Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we wish to inform you of the dangerous partisan actions of the NDC government that is going to plunge Dagbon back into chaos, for their political benefits. The recent actions of the Kanpakuya-naa, the NDC supported regent of the Andanis of appointing chiefs contrary to the dictates of the Otumfour committees road map to peace, has put Dagbon back into a dangerous Quagmire. After having exhausted all the Andani chieftaincy positions, he has begun a dangerous practice of performing the funerals for and on behalf of Abudu royal family without their permission and Consent and appointing chiefs to those villages who cannot go to those villages thus causing tension, fear and panic. A recent case in point is Kushegu village near Yendi, where Kanpakuya-Naa performed the funeral of the previous Chief, who was the father of the sitting regent, using a surrogate family member without the knowledge and consent of the family and proceeded to appoint a chief to the village. The Bolinlana sensing danger posed to peace and security, in consultation with villagers, appointed a chief acceptable to them. Since an attempt by the person appointed by the Kanpakuya-naa was resisted by villagers. Just yesterday, the Kanpakuya-naa appointed another unqualified person to Kpatinga, near Gusheigu, again the villagers refused to accept. The Bolinlana in order to calm down tempers and reduce tension appointed a qualified Abudu to the position, who was welcomed by the villagers with jubilation and merry making. While in that mood, the security forces arrived in Kpatinga Rambo-style, shooting and forcing their way into the palace amidst violent protestation from the villagers forcefully picking the chief sending him to Tamale Police Station. We wish to appeal to the people of Ghana and people of goodwill throughout world to save the Abudu family from attempted annihilation and extinction by a partisan Mills government, who by their actions and inactions have shown that they have no respect for the rule the law. Their pretentions of supporting Asantehene and the eminent chiefs to bring peace to Dagbon has been exposed as partisan gimmick; and to President Atta Mills, he should demonstrate his democratic credentials and moral uprightness by upholding the oath he swore to God and country, to be fair to all manner of persons irrespective of their tribal, religious, Political affiliation etc. To the security forces, we entreat them to act as Ghanas Security forces, and not NDCs security forces. For instance where were they looking when the Andanis illegally and un-customarily installed forty-three (43) chiefs? Now the Abudus have installed only three(3) in order to bring peace, in that they case they think the world should come to an end, It will not. Finally we appeal to the members of the peace council of Ghana to intervene and ask the President not to allow his government to disturb the very peace he has appointed them to keep in Ghana and Dagbon in particular. Thank you. Mr. Abdulai Abubakari Sadiq Secretary and Spokesperson to the Bolinlana
