Damba Heaps Praise On Hearts Goalie McCarthy

Hearts of Oak goalkeepers trainer Abubakari Damba is singing praises on Philemon McCarthy, saying the team would have suffered more without the 28-year-old. The Phobians have seen their title ambitions fade fast in recent games where they are winless in five games. The recent slump has led to the change in coaching guard with Serbian Nebojsa Vucicevic making way for C.K Akunnor. The ex Black Stars captain however failed to halt Hearts steep decline with a 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of city rivals Liberty Professionals in his first game in charge. The lost resigned the Phobians to fourth in the Ghanaian topflight a staggering twelve points behind leaders Asante Kotoko with nine matches to go. But Damba manages to find a silver lining within the big mess the team finds itself. Honestly speaking I think he (McCarthy) has played a very important role and has been in fantastic shape and have actually brought a lot of life and energy into the club. He told Accra-based Radio XYZ. McCarthys rise has seen the relegation of experienced Sammy Adjei to the substitutes bench.
