Hundreds Of NPP Supporters Welcome Bawumia Home

The 2008 running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, arrived in Ghana on Tuesday night to a rousing welcome ahead of his naming as the vice presidential candidate of the party for the December elections. Speaking to Citi News at the Kotoka International Airport, the former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana said he was pleasantly surprised at the numbers that besieged the airport to welcome him. Among the hundreds of jubilant supporters who were at the airport to welcome him were Dr. Bawumias wife and his two children as well as the national youth organiser of the NPP, Anthony Karbo. Dr. Bawumia, however, failed to confirm Citifmonline.coms report that the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has settled on him as his partner for the 2012 elections. Im very surprised because I was not expecting anything like this, Dr. Bawumia said. I thank all the supporters for making their effort to come out to welcome me. Lets leave the process to take its own course. It is up to the party and the structures need to be respected and we cant pre-empt such decisions. Let us allow the process to work, Dr. Bawumia said.
