NDC Cant Do Without Rawlings Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has acknowledged the ruling party cannot do without its founder Jerry John Rawlings this election year. Political pundits have suggested the party should move beyond the strained relationship between it and the Rawlingses and focus on winning the elections. According to Mr. Nketia, ousting the founder from the party would spell doom for the NDC and implored the leadership of the party to ensure total compliance with the partys constitution. You cant say the party does not need its founder I am not sure that the party would at any point in time decide that we dont need our founder because its a historical fact that the party was established based on the leadership foundation of Flt. Lt. Rawlings, he told Xfm. We have elaborate position in the partys constitution and the role he has to play as a founder. For instance, he is the chairman of the Council of Elders and they have the constitutional duty to settle all disputes within the party, he is a member of the National Executive Committee. Following the revocation of the membership of Kofi Adams, a Deputy General Secretary and spokesperson of the former President, Rawlings said in a statement: When you find yourself in an unintended pit or hole the wise thing to do is to stop digging. It does not appear the Mills government is able to see the growing darkness around them. Do we need any other evidence to demonstrate that the Mills government has no intention of profiting from the truth? Ghana needs a real and true awakening. The government is fast speeding the country into an abyss. However, the NDC scribe argued that the decision to interdict Mr. Adams does not violate the constitution of the party.
