Jake Should Stop Behaving Like A Child - Presidential Aide

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Odododiodoo has launched a scathing attack on the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey for accusing him of championing a string of violence in the constituency. Nii Lantey Vanderpiuye believes the accusations leveled against him are borne out of ignorance. The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Jake Obetsebi Lamptey on Wednesday in an open letter addressed to the Castle, urged President Mills to reprimand presidential staffer, Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye, for allegedly masterminding an assault on some members of the party during a meeting in Accra Central on March 19, 2012. Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey is worried that the wanton disrespect for the rule of law by officials close to the president could be the undoing of the country in the December polls. The letter read in part that: Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, one of your special assistants who is the Parliamentary Candidate for Odododiodio Constituency, is on record as accepting that those who attacked the N.P.P. members were from his family and his supporters. I am hoping that you will publicly censure Mr. Vanderpuiye, and let him know that a democratic society allows freedom of association and other freedoms. According to him, the party has also received reports that guns are being used in a number of constituencies, amongst them are Offinso North, Offoase Kokoben and Asunafo South in the biometric registration exerices to intimidate registrants. Speaking in an interview with Radio XYZ on Wednesday, Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey said the letter was intended to draw the presidents attention to the reports of violence that have been reported across the country. He said the president must crack the whip if his much touted promise of a peaceful election will come into fruition. But Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye has described the accusations against him as irresponsible and a lie.
