Koase Girls Occupy Teachers Bungalow

DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the two teachers bungalows at Koase Secondary Technical School in Asuogya near Wenchi in the Bring Ahafo region have been converted to into a girls dormitory in an attempt to ease congestion. According to the schools headmaster Nana Albert Osei Asiamah, most of the girls were turned away when they came to school as boarders because there is not enough room to accommodate them. He has therefore called on government and individuals to come to the schools aid with the construction of adequate infrastructure. Nana Asiamah was speaking during the schools 20th anniversary and 1st speech and prize giving day at Asuogya on the theme: Honesty and hard work, a tool for national development. He also called for more government assistance saying lands belonging to the school were being encroached on by some private individuals for farming and other building projects. Nana Albert expressed worry over governments delay in providing the school with the six unit classroom block it promised to give to all senior high schools in the country. He also called on the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to hand over a six-unit classroom block it built for the school. According to him, the school is unable to admit more students because of limited infrastructure. Students are congested in our limited classrooms and this impedes the teaching and learning process, he complained. The schools dining hall has been converted into a classroom block; the staff common room for teachers is too small so they have to sit under a mango tree to mark students papers and write their notes. The yet to be completed school wall is also a source of worry to management as it gives students the opportunity to leave campus without permission whenever they want. It is very hard to instill discipline in them, the headmaster added. He called on individuals, government, donors and stakeholders to help the school saying even the library is being used as a resting place.
