Kotoko Want To Use League's Sponsorship Money To Pay Debt
Asante Kotoko have officially written to the Ghana FA to use their share of the leagues sponsorship money to pay part of the debt owed former coach Hans Dieter Schmidt.
The Ghana Premier League leaders have been handed a 30-day ultimatum by FIFA to pay the German trainer 99,000 Euros-who was wrongfully dismissed seven years ago-his compensation or relegated to the third-tier league.
Kotoko are entitled to US$ 52,000 from the Ghana Premier League sponsorship deal.
The club have also set up a 10-man committee to find means of raising money to pay the money.
These are difficult times and if we try sitting down to look unconcerned and wait till we solicit funds, Kotoko Administrative Manager Ben Nti said in an interview with Fox FM.
Even though this money was originally meant to pay outstanding salaries and enticement fees, we have no other option to allow the FA pay the coach with this money in a way to tell him we are putting ourselves together to settle what will be left.
We are doing this because our fear is that we may be punished if we dont get the money by the time we are given.
