Marcel Desailly: I Have Been Approached By Ghana FA For Black Stars Job

Ex-France captain Marcel Desailly claims he has been approached by the Ghana Football Association to take over as Black Stars coach. The 43-year-old has been heavily linked with the vacant national team coaching job following the dismissal of Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic last month. Local media have reported the former Chelsea defender has held talks with the Ghana FA although the latter has dispelled that. Desailly, who returned from London last week, told the Africa Sports newspaper that talks are underway for him to become the new coach. There is a lot to discuss and the following days could be interesting. If I have to accept the job, its only fair it should be on my terms, Desailly said in a interveiw with the Africa Sports newspaper. For example, I should determine who Im going to work with, be well briefed about issues like whether Kevin-Prince Boateng and Asamoah Gyan are returning to the squad etc. Desailly was shortlisted two years ago when Ghana was on the market for a new coach but he surprisingly pulled out of the race The Ghana FA has promised to name Stevanovics successor in two weeks. The Black Stars begin the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June against Lesotho at home and a trip to Zambia.
