NDC Woos Defeated MPs Going Independent

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is meeting with all its defeated sitting MPs and parliamentary candidates who have declared their intention to contest the December elections as independent contenders. Majority of the partys defeated parliamentary aspirants including Anthony Afenyo in the Ashaiman and the member of parliament for Lower Manya Krobo constituencies, Michael Teye Nyaunu, have openly declared their intentions in this regard. According to them, they were not treated fairly during the partys primaries. The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ade Coker, told Citi News the development is not in the best interest of the party. The party is one big family and soon we will be dialoguing to find an amicable solution to the problem, he said. The filing time is a bit far off and so we have ample time to talk to everybody who has got a problem with the party. Mr. Coker said the party will work to bring unity into its fold before the presidential elections due this December.
