NPP Man Shot At Nungua

THREE UNIDENTIFIED persons have shot a New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive at Nungua in the Krowor constituency leaving him seriously injured in the leg and the neck. Ignatius Addo is the latest victim of biometric registration violence in the country after being shot three times by his attackers late last Friday. After inspecting progress of the registration exercise at various centres in the Krowor constituency during which he was said to have resisted anomalies such as the registration of minors, he retired to his sisters house. Apparently his vigilante actions at the centres infuriated some persons so they traced him to his sisters house. With the trap door open to allow his sister easy access when she returned from town, his attackers did not have any difficulty laying hands on him. NPP Chairman for the Krowor constituency, Nii Bubui Kakai, told DAILY GUIDE he strongly believed the NDC had a hand in the shooting incident because they wanted to replicate what happened at Odododiodoo. He said the NDC felt that Addo was a stumbling block and therefore wanted to eliminate him but added that they would not succeed. He told DAILY GUIDE the victim heard a knock on the door. Thinking it was his sister, he asked the person to enter but was met by three men who asked whether he was the one who has been speaking for the NPP and when he answered in the affirmative, they dragged him out of the house, he said. His sister who returned home to find her brother in a pool of blood rushed him to the Sakumono Police Station to report the incident from where he was moved to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for medical attention. He had been beaten and shot in the leg three times after which his attackers took his mobile phones and left him to his fate. When DAILY GUIDE visited him at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ignatius Addo who was in pain confirmed the story. He noted that he was lucky to have escaped and knocked on the door of a neigbour who helped him to the hospital and was later followed by his sister. He also said that he believed that the men were either members of the NDC or were sent by them because they shot after questioning him to know whether he was a member of the NPP. However, latest information received indicated that Addos sister reported the case at the Sakumono District Police Station as that of robbery and the case has since been transferred to the Nungua Police station.
