Kwesi Nyantakyi Explains Marcel Desailly's Snub For Ghana Job

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi claims Marcel Desailly did not miss out on the Black Stars coaching job due to his excessive demands. The ex-France captain wanted to aim his own assistant coach and other members of his backroom staff. Desailly is also reported to have demanded 100,000 Euros salary. The Ghana FA promoted assistant coach Kwesi Appiah to take permanent charge leaving an interested Desailly in the lurch. Nyantakyi says the Chelsea legends commitments elsewhere rather made it difficult for him to take up the job. He works as an analyst for French Television company Canal Plus and spokesperson for the sports betting website Betclic. I think it was basically because of the commitment not wholly because of the demands. We negotiated and got to some understanding, Nyantakyi said. Marcel has commitments. He has a lot of contractual commitments that made it difficult to take up the appointment at this material moment. He is very interested. Whatever Marcel asked was not exceptional. We have provided similar incentives to previous coaches. The history of Black Stars coaches coming with assistant is not something new. Right from the days of Ratomir Dujkovic, Claude Leroy through to Milovan Rajevac to Goran Stevanovic, they have all come with some aide or assistant.
