The President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, is once again on his knees to appeal to politicians to allow calm to prevail at the various registration centres in the ongoing biometric registration. President Mills has expressed disappointment at the violence that has characterised the exercise across the country and is calling on all including his party members to let peace reign. His passionate appeal comes in the wake of fresh violence that welcomed two New Patriotic Party (NPP) members, Ursula Owusu, the party�s parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South and Samuel Abu Jinapor, an aide to flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo, in the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region. The two were assaulted by macho men believed to be from the camp of Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the NDC parliamentary candidate of the constituency, on Wednesday, when they toured the area to encourage their supporters to register. President Mills is currently in the Volta region touring the southern part of the area on a day�s working visit. The President will be visiting some registration centres in the region and will be preaching peace as well as inspect some government projects. He said Ghanaians should not indulge in violence. President Mills said he is optimistic he will get a second term come the December general elections, but would not want to retain power by spilling a single drop of blood on election day.
