Only God Knows What Would've Happened In Odododiodoo If... - Nii Lantey

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Odododiodoo constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpiuye, has downplayed fears he will react to the daring call by the New Patriotic Partys Ursula Owusu on who has a firm grip on the Odododiodoo constituency. Ms. Ursula Owusu who is the NPPs parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma South constituency was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday by a group of heavily built men. She subsequently threw an open challenge to Nii Lantey on Thursday when she visited the Tarzan registration centre in the constituency where the incident is said to have occurred. Ms Owusu accompanied a large group of supporters and her colleagues persistently dared Nii Lantey to show up and challenge their presence in the area. Her supporters then got into a tussle with the police who managed to prevent them from entering the registration centre. But speaking to XYZ News, Mr. Vanderpiuje who is also a presidential staffer said he and his supporters will resort to the appropriate authorities to address their grievances. Im not a violent person. Im not somebody who is lawless. Im not somebody who would want to disrespect authority; and as such I would not get up, go and chase Ursula Owusu and whoever she walks with in the name of justifying whether Im a man or a woman. It is needless, it is unnecessary and unintelligent. He insisted that he had no hand in the attack on the NPP officials and reiterated his earlier statement that if they had not verbally abused the people in the area, the incident would not have occurred. He said the information he gathered was that Ursula Owusu infuriated the supposed machomen when she described them as filthy. I would not condone it, it is a pity she was beaten but today (Thursday) I am disappointed that Ursula openly threatened; told the whole Ghana [and] the IGP that she could marshal forces and descend on Odododiodoo, he added. Mr. Vanderpiuye took the police to task for allowing Ursula and her supporters to create chaos in the constituency. He then sounded a note of caution to Ms Owusu: If she thinks that is the way she wants to play her politics, then she can only do that in Ablekuma South and not in Odododiodoo. But for the fact that yesterday (Wednesday), Latse Nii Ga, Nii Aryibontey, Nii Duodu Insaki and other chiefs called me and called our party leadership in the constituency, and asked as to be tolerant, [not] allow ourselves to be provoked only God knows what would have happened in Odododiodoo. He said over 2000 youth got together to confront the thugs who followed Ms Ursula Owusu but were restrained by the clergy and leaders in the constituency.
