Ex-sports Minister E.T Mensah Lauds Fas Appointment Of Kwesi Appiah

Former Ghana Sports Minister Enoch Teye Mensah has lauded the decision of the Ghana Federation to hand the Black Stars job to a local man. The Ghana Federation appointed long-standing assistant coach Kwesi Appiah on a permanent basis following weeks of headhunting for Goran Stevanovics successor. He has been tasked with the responsibility of winning next years African Cup of Nations in South Africa and also to earn a semi-final berth at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. His appointment has been hailed by many as it ended the countrys six-year wait for a local man to be given the top job and Enoch Teye Mensah who is currently the countrys minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing says the FA made the right choice. He told Accra-based Radio XYZ: I have been an apostle of having a local coach. I have said it again and again. The truth is that you cannot get first class coaches for our national teams because we cannot pay the fees that they charge, The salaries and the allowances were unable to pay. When you check all our achievements, we achieved with local coaches. When I was around, they respected whoever was the coach. Let offer leadership. Let people know that this is what we have. Do we have a white man as the head of the Bank of Ghana? A black person, our own person, brother, friend, uncle was able to lead the UN and so we have the capacity at every level, The 51-year-old will be unveiled on Tuesday.
