I Will Always Call The Best Players - Appiah

Kwesi Appiah will announce his plans for the senior men's team, the Black Stars on Tuesday at his unveiling by the Ghana Football Association. The ex-Ghana international and assistant coach of the Black Stars is keen on a successful spell in charge having been given a contract until the end of the 2014 World Cup. Ahead of his presentation to the media at 2:00pm (14:00GMT), Appiah has stated that he will continue to work on the principle that the best players available will be required to lead the team at all times. "I will always call the best players around. I have been monitoring the local league and have been seeing those excelling and doing well," Appiah said on Monday. "Getting a place into the national team will not be based on the geographical location where one plies his trade. "I intend to make every position in the Black Stars very competitive. I have a target and to achieve that we need to put in the best and expect the best possible results," said the new Black Stars coach. "We will be judged by whatever results we achieve at the end of the day and I intend to record success with the support of my technical team, the players, GFA, media and every Ghanaian." Appiah had been the assistant coach of the Black Stars since 2008 and led the Ghanas U-23 team to an historic gold medal at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
