Nana, Kufuor Storm Bekwai

The hierarchy of New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer and ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor will tomorrow, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 move to the Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti region to attend a mammoth rally. The NPP presidential candidate would address the mammoth peace rally, which would be attended by party faithful from Bekwai and the surrounding areas. Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to launch the partys campaign message for the impending polls at the rally, Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, the Bekwai Constituency Chairman of the party disclosed. He said Nana Akufo-Addos running mate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and other top brass of the party including the Minority Leader, Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu and the National chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Campaign Manager, Boakye Agyarko and the Regional Chairman, F. F. Anto would be in attendence. He said the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, Joe Osei-Wusu and other members of the NPP including the Ashanti Regional Parliamentary caucus would also deliver speeches at the historic function. The rally, the NPP Chairman noted, would among other things help executives streamline party activities and step up electioneering campaign as well as unite members of the party in the constituency and make the NPP more attractive to constituents. He underscored the need to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the constituency before, during and after the December 2012 general elections and urged members of the party to show commitment to peace and unity of the NPP. Cautioning the NPP members to be tolerant as it embarks on a vigorous membership drive in the constituency to canvass for votes for the party and its flagbearer, he maintained that without peace the party would not achieve its objectives. Mr. Adu-Gyamfi pointed out that getting more votes to make Nana Akufo-Addo the ultimate winner in the 2012 presidential poll was paramount to the constituency which is basically an NPP stronghold. As part of the peace plan, Chairman Adu-Gyamfi said the constituency executives are planning to hold similar peace rallies throughout the constituency and observed that they would organize inter-party football matches and friendly games to foster unity and friendship among constituents.
