JJ Expresses Surprise At Konadus Threat To Sue Over NDC Umbrella Logo.

To say that all is not well between the presidency and founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, would be an understatement. Indeed, it is an open secret that there is no love-lost between the Rawlingses and President Mills as there appears to be a battle for rights over the heart and soul of the party. And the latest correspondence from the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to the party leadership, threatening to repossess the NDC logo, which is an eagle on top of an umbrella, she claims she designed on her own and registered in her name at the Copyright Office in 2010, has left some flustered. The former First Lady, through her lawyers, served notice last Thursday that she will withdraw her consent for the NDCs use of the logo if the party continues to disrespect her family, the founder and the values enshrined in the logo and the constitution for that matter. But John Jinapor, affectionately called JJ, the spokesperson for the Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, is surprised that 19 years down the line, an NDC stalwart is claiming ownership of the umbrella logo. Speaking as a panelist on Peace FMs Morning Show Kokrokoo, John Jinapor expressed worry at Mrs Rawlings actions, which to him, does not augur well for the party.
