4,468 Jobs Created In First Quarter

Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) says 4,468 jobs were created during the first quarter of 2012. This was registered from a total of 95 projects attracted into the country by Foreign Direct Investments inflows. However, it is a decrease of 56.76 percent over 7,004 jobs that were created in the corresponding quarter of 2011. However, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, George Aboagye says out of the 4,468 jobs created, 3,997 were created for Ghanaians only. For the 95 new projects registered in the first quarter, it is expected that 4,468 jobs will be created; this is a decrease of 56.76 percent of the corresponding quarter in 2011, Mr Aboagye said. He added that 3,997 of jobs to be created will be for Ghanaians and the remaining 471 for expatriates. Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Region continued to lead the pack for the highest number of registered projects of 75, followed by Ashanti Region with seven projects.
