NPP On Akufo Addo's Secret Power Sharing Agenda

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rubbished claims by the Al-Hajj Newspaper that the partys flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is preparing himself for power sharing if he does not emerge winner of the presidential polls in December. According to the paper, an insider from Nana Addos camp has revealed that the flagbearers posture ever since he lost to Professor Mills in the 2008 elections is indicative of his unbending desire to ascend the office of the president at all cost. The Al-Hajj newspaper also revealed that President Mills incumbency advantages and the acceptable convention of allowing Ghanaian presidents to complete an optional two terms under the 1992 Constitution leave Nana Addo with a huge task to dislodge President Mills, and thus, the possibility for Nana Addo to reject the 2012 election results. But spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo, Alhaji Mustapha Hamid says the NPP flagbearer best understands the democratic tenets of the Country and will not in any way think of rejecting election results. Speaking with XYZ News, Mr Hamid described the claims by the Al-Hajj Newspaper as bogus. This is a bogus story, Nana Akufo-Addo and President Mills, who is more decisive on how our democratic tenets should go. When Nana Addo as a 33 year old was fighting for multi party democracy, Mills was cocooned with academia Mustapha Hamid said. He added Nana Addo has never thought that power sharing arrangements are a good way to go, he believes that it [elections] should be free and credible and anybody who wins should be handed over power.
